Growing up in West Hartford, CT, I needed a college football team in the ‘80s. Miami’s bold 20-0 win over Notre Dame hooked me for life. Moving to South Florida fueled my love for the Canes, and years later, the Orange Bowl Boys podcast was born.

Darren Heitner Discusses the Xavier Lucas Case with the Orange Bowl Boys

One of the biggest stories in the country has been the transfer of cornerback Xavier Lucas from Wisconsin to Miami, and sports attorney Darren Heitner has been representing him in the case. Heitner, a UM adjunct professor of NIL at UM School of Law, has been frequently posting on social media in defense of his client, and he joins the Orange Bowl Boys to break down this wild case.

The Big Ten released a statement over the weekend supporting Wisconsin keeping Lucas from the transfer portal. Heitner stated that the contract between Lucas and Wisconsin is not binding because the NCAA does not allow its member schools to pay athletes directly. Wisconsin's claim of tampering was received as “absurd” according to Heitner.
