Roman is back! But Scoop is gone this week… so it seems like the show is never going to be back together until Fall! And Roman shares a story about his father informing him while in Italy that they have a famous relative who turned out to be a high level mafia boss. And as we get down to Greentree, we have to apologize for not mentioning the baseball super-regionals once last week, after they turned around a bad start to make a bit of a run.
Then we turn the corner to the biggest story of the week, the NCAA settlement about how players can and will get paid, and how it will affect the Miami Hurricanes. Roman rolls out the suggestion of taking the allocated $20.5 million and allocate it to every sport except for football, because football can raise that kind of money on their own. And as college football continues to evolve we wonder if we'll still enjoy College Football in 10 years like we did in our youth.
David Lake wrote a great piece for 247 this week about Miami's “floor and ceiling” players by position, and Ro agrees with the assertion that Jordan Lyle is the ceiling for the running back room, spinning us into a conversation about potential All-Americans this season. Toast is also feeling like Mario might pull a Top 3 class this year, we share a fond farewell to Aaron Feld who is stepping away from the game for the right reasons, and Roman shares that his daughter has been invited to a very high profile women's volleyball camp at Miami!
The Wheel of Topics this week starts with the 9-year-old Panthers fan who went super viral for loving the fights in Game 3, plus Lee Corso's final ride with the College GameDay headgear in Week 1 of the college football season, why the Steelers would ever sign Aaron Rodgers, and Joey Chestnut's hopeful return to the July 4th hot dog eating contest.
And Roman returns for his first round of Five Questions in a few weeks, which this week includes the worst candies we've ever eaten, things that traumatize us, cartoons from our childhood we'd still watch today, jobs that won't be around in 50 years, inanimate objects we would have conversations and changing a band's name with one letter.
